Questions

Everything people ask before they book.

If something isn't answered here, ask on the call. We'd rather tell you it's a bad fit than sell you a bad fit.

The basics

Will it sound like a robot?

Try the demo on this site and decide for yourself. Type at it like a customer would, misspellings and all. By text, replies are short, written the way a person writes, and they land after a natural pause instead of instantly — customers regularly reply "thanks" the way they would to a person. On the phone it uses a natural voice and stops talking the moment you cut in, which is the part that actually makes it feel human rather than the voice itself.

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. Your number stays exactly as it is. Unanswered calls forward to a Zenith line in the background. On Premium we can port your real number so texts come from it directly.

What if it says something wrong?

It is not making things up as it goes. It works off your hours, your service area, your pricing rules and your calendar. When a question falls outside that, it stops and hands the lead to you instead of guessing. If a rule is wrong, email us and we fix it the same business day.

Do I have to learn software?

No. You get emails and calendar events. If you never log into anything, the product still works completely.

How long until it's live?

Answering your phone can be live within a few days — it needs no carrier approval. Text messaging does: US carriers require every business to be registered before they will deliver a word of it, and that review has been taking two to three weeks. We file it for you on day one and switch texting on the moment it clears. We need about 45 minutes of your time in total.

What if I hate it?

90-day minimum, then month-to-month, cancel with 30 days' notice. You keep every lead and every phone number captured while you were with us.

Can it answer the phone with a voice?

Yes, from the Growth plan up. It says your business name, asks what they need, and books the job while they are on the line. It tells anyone who asks that it is an assistant and it says at the start that the call is recorded — it will not pretend to be a person. On Starter it does not answer; it catches what you miss and texts them back instead, which is what that plan is for.

Can it take payments?

No. It answers the missed call, holds the conversation and books the job. Money changes hands between you and the customer the same way it does now.

Setup and fit

Do you work outside my state?

Yes. Zenith is software and text messaging, so there is nothing to drive to. We work with businesses anywhere in the United States, and setup happens over a call and email rather than in person.

What if I already use ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber?

Keep it. Zenith sits in front of it, not on top of it. It answers the missed call and books against the calendar you already run, then emails you the details. At launch the booking lands on your Google Calendar and in your inbox, and it goes into your field service software the way every other job does. Writing directly into those systems is on the list. It has not shipped, so we are not going to say it has.

Do I need a website for this to work?

No. The booking link points at your calendar, not at your site. A Google Business Profile and a phone number is enough.

What if I don't have an EIN?

You need one before US carriers will approve automated texting for your business. It is free, the IRS issues it online in about ten minutes, and there is no way around it. Get the EIN first and we file the carrier registration the day it exists.

Your data

Do you sell my customer data?

No. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to a data broker. Your customers' numbers and messages are used to run your service and nothing else. That is written into the privacy policy, not just claimed on a marketing page.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

You get an export of every lead, every phone number and every conversation, in a format you can open. We hold our copy for 30 days in case something needs reconciling, then delete it.

Who sees the messages?

You do. We do when something needs fixing or you ask us to look at a thread. There is no call center, no contractor pool and no offshore team reading your customers' texts.

Is this recorded or stored?

Text conversations are stored, so you have a record of what was said and so the system knows the history when the same customer texts again. Nothing is voice-recorded, because nothing here is a voice call.

Edge cases

What if two people text at once?

Both get answered. Every conversation is handled on its own, so a tune-up question and an emergency arriving in the same minute do not collide or get crossed.

What if a customer says STOP?

They are opted out immediately and permanently. That is the law and it is also the right call. You still get the lead and their number in your email, and nothing texts them again from your line unless they start the conversation.

15 minutes. Bring your call log.

We'll count what you actually missed last month and tell you what it cost. If it's not worth fixing, we'll say so.

Or go break the demo first. It costs you nothing to test.
